Is my payment secure?
Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment provider. Card details are entered on Stripe's secure checkout page and are never transmitted to or stored on this website. We only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, along with the amount and any details you chose to provide.
Can I cancel a monthly donation?
Yes, at any time. Every monthly donation generates a receipt containing a link to manage your subscription, where you can cancel in two clicks. You can also email us and we will cancel it for you. No cancellation fee, no reason required.
What's the difference between monthly and one-time?
A one-time gift is a huge help right now. A monthly gift is what lets us commit to projects months ahead instead of reacting week to week. Both matter — monthly just stretches further.
Do I get a receipt?
Yes. Stripe automatically emails a receipt for every successful donation to the address you provide, along with your card statement entry. If you prefer not to give an email address, the donation still processes but no receipt is sent.
How will this appear on my card statement?
The charge appears as GIVELANTERN, so you can recognise it later in your bank or card app.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If you donated by mistake or are unhappy for any reason, contact us within 30 days and we will refund the donation in full. See our Refund Policy for details.
Will you show my name publicly?
Only if you fill in the name field and leave a message. Leave both blank and your donation stays completely anonymous.
Can I donate a different amount?
Absolutely. The preset amounts are just suggestions — type whatever you like into the custom field, down to a minimum of $1.
Are donations tax-deductible?
