These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website at givelantern.com (the "Site") and any donation you make through it. By using the Site or making a donation, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Who we are

The Site is operated by GiveLantern ("we", "us", "our"). You can contact us using the details on our Contact page.

2. What this Site is for

The Site allows visitors to make voluntary donations, either as a one-time gift or as a recurring monthly contribution, to support our work. Donations are entirely voluntary. No goods or services are sold through the Site, and nothing on the Site constitutes an offer of goods or services.

3. Donations

• All donations are processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. We do not receive or store your card details at any time.
• The amount you enter is the amount charged. We do not add fees to your donation.
• Recurring donations are charged automatically each month on the date of your first donation, until cancelled.
• You confirm that any payment method you use is yours, or that you are authorised to use it.

4. Cancelling a recurring donation

You may cancel a recurring monthly donation at any time, free of charge. A link to manage your donation is included in every receipt email, or you may contact us and we will cancel it on your behalf. Cancellation takes effect from the next billing date; the current month's donation is not refunded automatically, though you may request a refund under our Refund Policy.

5. Refunds

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

6. Tax

Unless we state otherwise in writing, donations made through the Site are not tax-deductible. We do not provide tax advice, and you are responsible for determining the tax treatment of any donation you make in your own jurisdiction.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Site for any unlawful purpose;
• Attempt to access areas of the Site or our systems that you are not authorised to access;
• Interfere with the operation of the Site, including by introducing malware or attempting to overload it;
• Make a donation using a payment method you are not authorised to use;
• Submit abusive, defamatory, or unlawful content in any message field.

8. Public messages

If you choose to provide a name and message with your donation, you grant us permission to display that name and message publicly on the Site. Do not include anything you would not want displayed publicly. We may remove any message at our discretion.

9. Availability

The Site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Site at any time.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Site. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at our place of establishment, without regard to conflict of law principles.
